HeraHealth’s mission is to improve maternal outcomes through accessible, objective, and real-time blood loss quantification technology. By using smartphone-based artificial intelligence to support earlier recognition of postpartum hemorrhage, HeraHealth aims to reduce preventable maternal morbidity and mortality and expand access to accurate blood loss assessment across diverse obstetric care settings.

Postpartum hemorrhage is a leading cause of maternal death. Clinicians rely on subjective and inaccurate assessments of bleeding post-delivery, and postpartum the only indication of hemorrhage is the drop of maternal vital signs, which are only evident once significant blood has been lost. Underserved and rural facilities face the highest incidence of mortality. There lacks an objective, scalable solution to monitor maternal bleeding throughout the entire delivery and postpartum process.

HeraHealth has developed a proprietary imaging algorithm that enables clinicians and patients to monitor maternal bleeding. Through smartphone-based image capture through the HeraHealth app, the algorithm quantifies blood volume in absorbent materials. Over subsequent photos, the app provides patients and their clinicians real-time data on their bleeding. In this way, objective data allows for intervention can be initiated earlier than current methods allow.
